CBI seeks dismissal of convict’s plea in Rajiv Gandhi assassination in SC

NEW DELHI: In Rajiv Gandhi assassination, CBI seeks dismissal of convict’s plea in SC for recall of its May 1999 order upholding his conviction.
Application for recall of the order is not maintainable since it seeks reopening of the case on merits said CBI to SC.
Convict A G Perarivalan’s application is devoid of merits since the matter has attained finality, CBI tells SC.
Role of Perarivalan in conspiracy resulting in assassination of Rajiv Gandhi has already been upheld by the apex court said CBI to SC. (agencies)
