JAMMU, Sept 2: In the much-publicized ETT scam, Crime Branch Jammu today presented first charge-sheet against seven accused in the court of Special Judge Anti-corruption Jammu.
These accused are Manish Suri, son of S P Suri of Gandhi Nagar, Sudershan Kumar Gupta, son of Krishan Lal Gupta of Lakhanpur, Kamal Kumar Gupta, son of Chuni Lal of Rehari, Ashok Kumar Kapoor, son of Chuni Lal Kapoor of Bakshi Nagar, Rajesh Sharma, son of Parkash Sharma of Samba, Bashir Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar, the then Director Academics, BOSE and R K Jalali, son of D N Jalali of Pamposh Colony and the then Deputy Secretary, BOSE (now expired).
“This is the first chargesheet in this huge scam as the investigation has been conducted session wise and with the passage of time more arrests are likely to be made and supplementary challans will be filed accordingly”, Mubassir Latifi, SSP Crime Branch said.
The Crime Branch has established that in the year 2002-2003, some of the promoters namely Manish Suri, Sudershan Kumar Gupta, Kamal Kumar Gupta, Ashok Kumar Kapoor and Rajesh Sharma connived with the BOSE officers namely Bashir Ahmed Dar, R K Jalali and in furtherance of the criminal conspiracy permissions to ETT Institutes were issued illegally and without approval from senior officers or from the Government.
“Neither any rules were followed nor mandatory inspections of the premises conducted before issuing permissions. More glaringly no syllabus was prescribed”, the Crime Branch said in the challan, adding “not only this, the BOSE officials with dishonest intentions allowed the promoters to enroll disproportionate number of students to confer undue benefits upon them by sheer abuse of their official positions”.
After establishing offences under Sections 420,468,471,120-B/RPC read with Section 5(2) Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused person, preliminary challan (chargesheet) for the session 2003-2005 was today filed by the Crime Branch before the court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu.
After going through the challan, the court granted bail to Manish Suri and Sudershan Kumar. Ex-Secretary BOSE is already on bail granted by the High Court.
Court also issued non-bailable warrants against Ashok Kumar Kapoor, Kamal Kumar Gupta and Rajesh Sharma against whom Crime Branch has presented challan under Section 512 CrPC.
