CB arrests absconding accused after 8 years

JAMMU, Aug 19: Special team of Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch Jammu has apprehended an absconder after eight years here today.
The accused Gh. Rasool Mir alias Rasool DC son of Mohd Jamal Mir resident of Gulab Bagh Srinagar was evading his arrest for eight years. He was wanted to the Crime Branch in a case FIR No. 21/2007 under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B/RPC at Police Station, Crime Branch Jammu.
Police said the absconder is a land broker and was allegedly involved in hatching a criminal conspiracy with Revenue Authorities and two other parties involved in the fraud to facilitate transfer of migrant property in Srinagar City, valuing crores of rupees by forging a fake power of Attorney.
Police said the charge-sheet of the case was produced before the Court of law on 23-03-2015 against 12 accused persons including the absconder accused Gh. Rasool Mir alias Rasool DC who was evading his arrest for the last 16 years. The Court had issued an arrest warrant U/S 512 Cr.PC against the accused.
