JAMMU, July 21: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has claimed that several cattle feed manufacturing units are facing threat of closure in the J&K state.
In a meeting of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held today under the chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan (president), the members discussed the matter in respect of numbers of items of raw materials of cattle feed manufacturing units put under negative list while extending the Toll Tax exemption to Industrial sector up to 31-3-2017.
During the meeting the members of the cattle feed manufacturing Units raised serious concern in respect of withdrawal of Toll Tax exemption on the import of de-oiled rice bran, de-oiled cakes and rice bran which was exempted earlier for the Industrial units. Due to imposition of Toll Tax @ Rs 800 per/ton, the raw material cost increased by 5% resulting it is uneconomical for the Units to compete in the market against the import of cattle Feed from outside the State by the end users.
The Association urged upon the Finance Minister Dr Haseeb A Drabu and Industries & Commerce Minister Chander Parkash to intervene into the matter and issue necessary amendments of the SRO No. 209 dated 29-06-2016 to provide Toll Tax exemption to the cattle feed manufacturing units for the import of their major raw materials i.e. de-oiled, rice bran, de-oiled cakes and rice bran which will provide great relief to the micro and small scale units working in the State.
The meeting was also attended by Rahul Bansal, senior vice president, Varun Singla, vice president, Ajay Langer, general secretary, Viraaj Malhotra, treasurer and other members of the Association.
