KATRA, Dec 4: The ongoing protest of the disengaged casual workers of Katra Municipal Committee continued for the eighth consecutive day on Friday over the issue of regularization of their service and release of their salaries.
Sohan Chand president of the union, addressed the protesters, who raised slogans in support of their demands. Former MLA and JKNPP president, Balwant Singh Mankotia also joined the protestors and assured them of highlighting their issues.
“A number of committees were formed by the State Government to resolve our long-pending issues and demands, but our file is still gathering dust in the Secretariat,” Sohan Chand lamented and said that it was sheer injustice with the casual workers.
“We have not even received the wages for the last 38 months which should be paid at the earliest,” he added.
Later on the protestors also met SSP Reasi,  Sujit Kumar and apprised him of their problems.
SSP  assured the protestors to raise their issues with the higher officials.
