These temporary workers of PDD are sitting on protest dharna outside the office of  Chief Engineer EM&RE wing  of PDD at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu in support of their long pending demands, under the banner of  All Jammu Province Casaul/ Need Based Workers Union  of Power Development Departm-ent  (PDD).
State president of the Union Akhil Sharma, provincial president Shesh Kumar, Sham Sharma vice president and Sanjeev Kumar  general secretary are leading the protest programme for the last three weeks. The agitating workers are demanding framing of regularization policy for the workers, release monthly wages though the new wages head  as promised, implement  insurance policy for the workers compensation in case of death  or turning handicapped while at work.
Through all temporary workers in Kashmir are getting their wages through new wage head but those from Jammu  were not brought under this pattern despite repeated requests.
They pointed out that all ministers and MLAs recently increased their own wages/ salaries from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,50,000 per month and Government  passed bill in this regard without any delay but it has failed to release even just Rs 4500 per month wages in favour of these temporary workers. They urged upon the State Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary to take cognizance of the matter and address their pending issues.
