JAMMU, Oct 16: Casual labourers, need based, ITI trained and CP workers today went on fast unto death at PHE Office, BC Road, to press the Government to consider their genuine demands.
Those who sat on fast unto death today are Tanvir Hussain, chairman, United Front, Ajay Kumar, vice-president, United Front and Sashi Paul, executive committee member of the Front.
They were accompanied by a large number of casual labourers who staged protest under the banner of All J&K Department Casual Labour/Need based/ITI Trained/CP Workers’ United Front, Jammu Province, and raised slogans in support of their demands. They alleged that Government has totally failed to frame an adequate policy for their regularization.
They demanded introduction of a single policy for regularization of all casual labourers, need based, ITI trained and CP workers, engaged after 1994 in the department.
