Casual, ITI, CP & need based workers protest for regularization

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, May 13: All J&K Department Casual Labour, ITI Trained, CP Workers and Need Based United Front held protest for regularization policy here and at Srinagar.
Large number of casual labour, ITI trained, CP and Need Based workers assembled in front of Press Club and raised slogans in favour of their demands. Later, the protestors tried to take out a march but police restricted them.
Addressing the protestors, Tanveer Hussain, president of the association expressed anguish over the false promises of the previous Government made with 61,000 casual labours working in various departments.
“Number of committees and sub-committees were framed by the Government to resolve our long pending demands, but every time our files seem gathering dust in the Secretariat. Such moves of prevision Government were merely eye-wash”, he alleged.
He stated that the new coalition Government framed high power committee for the budget but did not bother about the plight of casual labours, adding that no funds or money has been sanctioned for the regularization and wages of the daily wagers and CP workers.
“We submitted our demands to the Finance Department. The high power committee should refer to them and make their decision regarding the matter”, he added.
The protestors demanded regularization policy for all casual labours, ITI Trained, CP and need based workers who have completed five years of their services.
The association served an ultimatum to the Government to solve the issues before May 20 failing to which the workers of organization will launch “Kaam Chodo Hartal” in both Jammu as well as Kashmir region.
The association also urged others organizations and daily wagers of all departments to come forward to take the struggle of their regularization to logical end.
Among others present were vice president Ajay Kumar, vice chairman, Deepak Gupta and Satish Kumar, general secretaries, Subash Chander and Kulbhushan Singh, advisors and district presidents namely Manjeet Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Jeevan Singh, Gopal Singh, Parveen Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Ajay Samillya, Tilak Raj, Romy Verma, etc.
At Srinagar, police today foiled a protest march of by casual laborers and daily wagers who were demanding regularization.
Hundreds of casual laborers and daily wagers today assembled at Sher-e-Kashmir Park in Srinagar to press for their demand of regularization.
As soon as they tried to come out on the main road, police fired tear smoke to disperse them.
Scores of protestors were detained at Kothibagh Police Station, however, they were later released.
The protestors are working as casual laborers and daily wagers in various government departments like Public Health Engineering, Power Development Department, Health Department, Tourism department.
Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Casual Daily Wagers Forum Sajad Ahmad Parray said that they were protesting against their long pending demands including regularization of their services.
Parray said that the daily wagers who have worked hard and are waiting for regularization since last 10-15 years in various departments. He said that Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers are regularized after five years of service and same rule should be applied to daily wagers working in various Government departments.
