This has reference to the news item ‘Cashless treatment facility for accident victims’ DE Dec 23.
The initiative launched by the Central Government to provide cashless treatment to road accident victims is more than welcome.
The initiative can provide great relief to victims, as it has been found that some victims can be saved if they are provided quick relief.
Though the initiative has been launched on three highways only, the scheme can be extended to other highways in the country in the future.
Due to increase in vehicular population, the accident rate has also gone up. To provide timely relief to the victims it is also necessary that trauma centres are opened at reasonable distances. The Government must take a cue from this initiative.
