JAMMU, Dec 20: The cashless medical treatment at the CGHS empanelled Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspecialty Hospital, Kakryal (SMVDNSH) for Central Govt Pensioners has started from yesterday.
After a long struggle of the Central Govt Pensioners Welfare Association, J&K, Jammu (CGPWA) headed by S S Wazir (IPS-Retd), the DG of CGHS, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India, had approved SMVDNSH Kakryal under CGHS on payment basis on May 30, 2018 and on cashless basis on October 18, 2018.
But it still took two months to complete the formalities and ultimately this facility has become operational for those Central Govt Pensioners of the State who are holding CGHS cards.
For availing this cashless facility for surgical procedure or hospitalized treatment including investigations, the beneficiary is required to get referral from the Incharge CMO of the CGHS Wellness Centre, Jammu, with proper advice of the Consultant of Govt Hospital or CGHS empanelled Hospital for particular treatment, procedures etc with prescription. Even for investigations only at Narayana Hospital, this referral is the pre-requisite.
However, in cases of medical emergency, the Hospital will admit the beneficiary even without referral and the requirement of approval etc would be obtained subsequently either by the Hospital or the beneficiary.
The Wellness Centre, Jammu, has about 700 Central Govt pensioners and their authorized dependents registered with it. This facility would be a great relief to CGHS beneficiaries of the State.
The CGPWA, Jammu has expressed profound gratitude to all those who made it possible.
