CARE North organizes 2-day interactive workshop

JAMMU, Apr 8: “CARE North” , the first Psychological centre in J&K , has organized a creative inter- active workshop, which focuses on training teachers and budding Psychologist in the State on the topic “Basics of Counseling Skills and Counseling Micro Skills”.
The two-day workshop began today at Amar Singh Club, under the banner of CARE North Jammu and PSYUNI Trust Delhi.
Kavinder Gupta, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, was chief guest in the inaugural function while guests of honour were Brig Saranjit Sahney, Educational Consultant (Chandigarh) and Dr Arti Bakhshi, HOD Psychology Jammu University. Various Heads of reputed schools and dignitaries attended the inaugural function.
The resource persons for the workshop were, Dr Ashutosh (Executive Director PSYUNI Trust-Delhi) and Dr Chand Trehan (Director CARE-Jammu)
Dr Chand Trehan, a Psychologist & Counselor of J&K State with a vast experience in the psychological field and winner of numerous awards at State and national level and also Director of CARE North (Centre of Counseling, Assessment, Research and Empowerment), informed the participants that keeping in mind the need of the hour in the State of J&K, there is a desperate need to create awareness amongst professionals, teachers, parents and public about the importance of Counseling. She further emphasized that the field of Counseling in the State needs a boost, as till date it is held at a very low priority.
The workshop enhanced counseling skills of the participants whose learning till date was only knowledge based. The workshop also gave a platform to many young professionals to showcase their talent and expertise.
Dr Ashutosh Srivastava, Executive Director Psyuni Trust from Delhi, an expert in counseling, shared many tips and strategies to conduct counseling sessions.
Kavinder Gupta felicitated the team members Dr Sarita Sood (Acedemic Consutant), Ritu Sachdeve (Asst Director), Roshni (Student coordinator) and Devika Mehta (Associate Faculty). He applauded the efforts of “CARE “organization, for selflessly devoting its time and energy for such a noble contribution to the society and J&K on the whole, which is going through a traumatic phase.
