Cardamom futures gain 0.28 pc on spot demand

NEW DELHI, Dec 11:  Cardamom prices rose by 0.28 per cent to Rs 722.50 per kg in futures trading today, mostly supported by rising demand in the spot market amid tight stocks availability in the physical market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January rose by Rs 2, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 722.50 per kg in business turnover of 209 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February edged up by 30 paise, or 0.04 per cent, to Rs 751.40 per kg in 22 lots.

However, spice for delivery in December shed 80 paise, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 620 per kg in a single lot.

Analysts said the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade was mostly attributed to pick up in spot demand against tight stocks following a fall in supplies from growing regions. (PTI)
