Cardamom futures fall on muted demand

NEW DELHI, June 14:  Cardamom prices drifted lower by Rs 11.10 to Rs 965 per kg in futures market today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid easing demand at the spot market.

Besides, sufficient stocks on higher arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions too weighed on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July declined by Rs 11.10, or 1.14 per cent, to Rs 965 per kg, in a business turnover of 25 lots.

The spice for delivery in far-month August contract was trading down by Rs 11, or 1.14 per cent, to Rs 951 per kg with a trading volume of just two lots.

Traders said offloading of positions by participants amid sluggish demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions led to the decline in cardamom futures. (PTI)
