Car plunges into Tawi, driver escapes unhurt

JAMMU, Mar 12: The driver of a car had a miraculous escape today when his car plunged into River Tawi near Panjtirthi.
According to a police official, a Verna car (without registration number) driven rashly and in negligent manner by a man identified as Bhanupartap Singh son of Surinderpal Singh, resident of Sidhra, this morning skidded off the road and plunged into River Tawi near Panjtirthi end of Sidhra bridge.
He said the driver had a miraculous escape in the mishap as despite falling from a considerable height into the river, he did not get any injury worth of hospitalization though the vehicle suffered severe damage. The official said that after the mishap, the driver even tried to cross the river in a bid to evacuate his vehicle from the river from opposite end but the vehicle stuck in river.
The official said when the driver failed to evacuate the vehicle from the river he approached the Sidhra police after which the vehicle was evacuated with the help of a JCB. He said a case of negligent driving had been registered against the driver at police station Nagrota.
