RAMBAN, Dec 11: A bus with 20 farmers from different places of Ramban district who were on a ten-day capacity building tour was flagged in by the General Officer Comma-nding, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) here today.
According to the Army sources, these farmers led by the Agriculture Extension Officer, Ramban, Susheel Raina, after visiting different institutions and Universities of Agriculture and Horticulture of Hissar and New Delhi returned after ten days today.
These 20 farmers, mostly from remote Mahu and Mangat villages of Khari tehsil of Banihal area, were educated in the Indian Agriculture Research Institute, PUSA, New Delhi and the Agriculture University, Hissar on various modern techniques of farming and innovative methods by the experts to increase the agriculture and milk production in their areas thereby enhancing their economic status.
Besides these institutes, they also visited several historical places like Red Fort, Jamia Masjid, Qutub Minar, etc. They also met Dharmedra Pradhan, Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepren-eurship. Each of these 20 farmers were also gifted a warm cap, trouser, a pyjama and vasket by the Army.
Accompanied by Deputy GOC, Commander 11 Sector Rashtriya Rifles and other senior Army officers, the GOC interacted with the farmers on their arrival at home. He wished them best of luck and expected them to implement and follow what they learnt from the tour, disseminate their new or modern farming knowledge and techniques to other in their surrounding areas to improve their financial status.
