REASI, Mar 1: The Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Reasi, Harbans Singh, inaugurated a district level training program on promotion of medicinal, aromatic plants and millets cultivation at the Conference Hall of DC office, Reasi on Wednesday.
As per a statement, the objective of the program was to promote the commercial cultivation of medicinal & aromatic plants and millets to enhance the farm income.
During the program, the CAO emphasized the significance of nutri cereals, such as millets, which are rich sources of protein, dietary fibre, iron, and calcium.
The initiative to promote millets aims to expand the area under cultivation from 8,310 ha to 14,310 ha and distribute 550 quintals of High Yielding Variety (HYV) seeds under HADP in JK UT, said the statement.
The Head KVK, Banarsi Lal, explained the commercial cultivation scope of medicinal & aromatic plants in Reasi district and covered topics related to their production and post-harvest management.
The training was attended by several officials, including the District Agriculture Officer Extension Rajesh Verma, District Agriculture Officer Reasi, Ravinder Tripathi, Scientist KVK Lalit Upadhaya, Sub-division Agriculture Officer Reasi, agriculture extension officers, and other officials.
