UDHAMPUR, Aug 29: A meeting of Association of Industries Udhampur was held here today under the chairmanship of  Udhayveer Singh for discussing the SICOP move  on cancellation of industrial plots at Battal Ballian Industrial area.
Speaking on the occasion,  the senior vice president,  Raghubir Gandotra said that Battal Ballian Industrial Area is one of the backward industrial areas of J&K, where road is  in worst condition, lights are not properly functioning and 90 percent of drains of this area are blocked.  In Battal Ballian Industrial area,  183 industrial plots have  been allotted for the last 20 years. Out of this,  70 Industrial units are  functioning, 15  are sick and approx 98 units could not start their work.
“The Association welcomes the decision taken by SICOP  for cancellation of 40 plots by notification in local news paper and website of SICOP, but we demand that the entire Industry related departments should sit together and think why a large number of people could not  establish their units; what is the actual reason behind this?” the Association said.
The meet informed that a few month back, some unit holder of this area had started  work but due to the Government  negligence, corruption in Industry  related department and lack of coordination  between these department,  the people could not  continuous their work. “A  few months back,  a single window meeting was  held at DC office Udhampur where  the PDD  refused to provide electricity to the new units. One side SICOP has   issued  notice of cancellation and on the other side, PDD is refusing to provide electricity for new units,” the Association of Industries explained and demanded that the Government /SICOP should first  develop the infrastructure including electricity, road , drains etc and then one year  revalidation should be given to all the unit holders who are interested to install their unit. “If anybody fails to install his unit within time frame then these allotments should  be cancelled  without any prior notice,” the Association said.
The meeting was attended by Raja Modi, (Retd Tehsildar),  Gandharav Singh, Ram Dev Singh Jamwal, Yashpaul Gupta, Shushil Sharma, Vivek Gandotra, Jai Singh, Sanjeev Sharma, Ravinder Thakur, Neerajn Gupta  and others.
