Sir,
Day in and day out, we come across unfortunate cases of accidents taking place on roads and even on National Highways. The accident near Samba is the latest one which claimed four precious lives and caused injuries to nearly 35 people.
The people at cremation site attacked the local MLA and threw stones on him causing injuries to him. It is surprising as to why he was attacked . Perhaps we have developed a thinking that for any and all problems or unfortunate accidents, the Government alone was responsible.
Why we encourage over crowding in public vehicles? Why we always want to overtake whether there was a provision on the spot or not? Why we keep on honking our vehicles’ horns most of whom are loudest and pressure horns? Too much of horn noise has become a part of our life on roads , why we do not understand that generating of too much noise was adding to the stress and confusion of drivers? Why we as parents allow minor boys and girls to ride two wheelers without proper driving licence and helmets? Why we encourage as many as four riders on a two wheeler which the Traffic Police personnel let go scot free if at all they are spotted on duty during the day? Why there is no Traffic Police on roads and lanes during late and early hours to check the menace of tractors which appear to have some understanding with the Traffic Police as they ply on congested and narrow Jammu roads all the 24 hours?
Why are not vehicles routinely serviced to eliminate mechanical faults in them? What is Traffic Police doing in educating, awakening and guiding the people about traffic laws and discipline and why are wrong doers seldom proceeded against ?
Yours etc…..
