Cabinet meeting today

JAMMU, Sept 7: State Cabinet is meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti at Civil Secretariat Srinagar tomorrow at 2 pm.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that Cabinet will put seal of approval on the proposal of Department of Forest, Environment and Ecology regarding promotion of some IFS officers.
Moreover, the Cabinet will discuss the amendments proposed by the Commercial Taxes Department in the Jammu and Kashmir Value Added Tax (VAT) Act.
“By way of this amendment, the Commercial Taxes Department wants to define the jurisdiction and powers of the Assistant Commissioners as the same was not described during the reorganization of the department conducted last year”, sources said.
Following amendment, the Assistant Commissioners of Commercial Taxes—five each in Jammu and Kashmir divisions will be able to look after the Service Tax and Special Circles effectively, they further said.
The Cabinet will also take some important decisions in order to give impetus to the skill development of youth and approve transfer of land in favour of Industries Department in Reasi district.
