Cabinet approves new bill to crackdown on illegal occupants in Govt buildings

NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a new bill ‘The Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Amendment Bill’ that seeks to crack down on unauthorised occupants of public premises.

Announcing this, Information Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said the new bill will facilitate smooth and speedy eviction of unauthorised occupants from Government residences and those vacant residences will be available for allotment to eligible persons on maturity of their turn in the waiting list.

The Minister also said that it will decrease the waiting time for availing the facility of residential accommodation. (AGENCIES)
