JAMMU, Sept 21: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed the State Cabinet and all   legislators of State to discuss and take final decision in the coming legislative session of both houses regarding regularization of about 61000 daily rated workers working in various departments of the State Government.
Interacting with media persons here, NMC president, Subhash Shastri, stated that the issue of regularization of daily rated workers is hanging fire for the last twenty years and hoped that the present dispensation in the State has the will and capacity to take decision in favour of these suffering daily rated workers.
He reitreated that a resolution needs to be passed by the legislators for making requisition to the Central Government to keep provision of an amount of Rs 2000 crore exclusively in the envisaged special package for the State for regularization and payment of pending wages to these daily rated workers.
Shastri pointed out that most of these workers have given their youth years in various departments with the hope that their services will be regularized by the Government but despite many assurances by then Governments nothing was done to regularize their services and as a result these daily rated workers have suffered long and faced the warrant of inflation vis-a-vis their family requirements.
While reminding the Prime Minister and top leaderships of both BJP/PDP as a part of election promises regarding regularization of these daily rated workers, Shastri said the time has come to fullfill their commitment and address the aspirations of these poor daily rated workers.
NMC chief expressed hope that something concrete will emerge on the issue in the coming legislative business starting from coming October 3.
