SRINAGAR, Sept 21: Leading Corporate House of State, Khyber Industries Pvt. Ltd has bagged the title rights of the upcoming 13th Tour de Kashmir Cycling Expedition.
Making a major coup in the sports arena of the State, the Khyber group today bagged the title rights of the biggest Cycling extravaganza of State that was turned into a 6-stage national level event last year.
A delegation of J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) led by Senior vice-president Rouf Ahmad Tramboo held meeting with Director Khyber Group, Umar Tramboo at Corporate Office of Khyber Group of Industries here.
The delegation briefed, Umar about the event and the idea behind it. He was impressed with the idea and potential of the tour and readily agreed to become title sponsor.
“It is great to see business house like Khyber Group readily agreeing to sponsor the event that too becoming a title sponsor. Umar showed keen interest after getting to know about event and assured his all help to sponsor the national level event,” Mr Tramboo said.
“We have been organising Tour de Kashmir from last 13 years. However, it has been kept to local perspective and one day programme all these years. Last year we extended event to 5-stage and to national participation and this season we have gone step further by making it 6-stage event. In that perspective it was impossible for JKSDA to organise event without any title sponsor,” he said.
Tramboo said that Tour de Kashmir has enormous potential and it is only kind of cycling event in the Country which will be held for continuous five days.
On October 3, tour would be flagged off from Verinag, Anantnag and will culminate at Pahalgam.
Lawrence Group of Schools, Srinagar has announced the cash prizes for the six stages of the upcoming 13th Tour de Kashmir cycling event that starts from October 3.
