Business, other activities resume in Valley due to strike relaxation

SRINAGAR: Business and other activities once again resumed as markets and roads witnessed heavy rush of shoppers and vehicles following relaxation in strike by Separatists from 1600 hrs today to 0800 hrs tomorrow in the Kashmir Valley.

However, business and other activities were closed since yesterday after markets were abuzz due to relaxation in strike for three days from Saturday.

Meanwhile, markets around Jamia Masjid witnessed heavy rush of shoppers this evening. A number of vehicles were plying on all routes since early morning in the Kashmir Valley though public and private transport witnessed an increase in the evening, resulting in traffic jams on some routes in the city, where traffic police personnel were on their toes to maintain smooth traffic movement.

However, life remained crippled in Anantnag district, where a militant was killed in an encounter with security forces early this morning.

Both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), spearheading the agitation since July 9, have asked people to do normal business today from 1600 hrs to 0800 hrs tomorrow. (AGENCIES)
