SRINAGAR, Nov 26: Apni Party’s Shopian district body, which was recently restructured held a meeting at the party’s headquarters in Srinagar on Saturday.
Party president Altaf Bukhari presided over the meeting, while vice president and District president Shopian, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas and District president Anantnag Abdul Rahim Rather were also present on the occasion.
Besides taking stock of the present political scenario in J&K, certain party matters, especially those related to the district body of Shopian, were discussed in the meeting.
While reiterating his party’s agenda Bukhari said, “Apni Party has the distinction of being a party that gained people’s trust in the shortest period. The public strength during SK stadium rally on Nov 12, was a clear indication that people have complete faith in the agenda and people-friendly policies of Apni Party. We have to work hard to get our agenda implemented in order to fulfil the expectations of the people.”
“We are committed to get the jailed youth released, ensuring a dignified life to the people, especially the youth; restoring social and administrative justice; making sure the political and constitutional rights for the people are restored; ensuring political and economic empowerment of the people, and so on.”
“It is painful to see that people are grappling with issues like rising unemployment, inflation, arbitrary hike in power tariff, inadequate power supply, “Bukhari added.
He assured that Apni Party will keep striving to ensure these issues are resolved and people are given relief.
Zaffar Manhas talked about certain public issues and said that Apni Party ought to chalk out some plans to ensure these issues are resolved.
“Poor people are grappling with certain issues, enhancing their hardships. One of these issues is the sharp hike in the power tariff. People who are well-to-do are getting the power supply on BPL tariff, while the people who live hand to mouth are forced to pay hugely. Something is terribly wrong with the system and the concerned authorities seem not ready to look into the matter,” he asserted.
Others who spoke on the occasion included, Adv Gowher, Mohd Ahsan Paul, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Adv Tanveer, Irfan Manhas, Haji Abdul Majeed, Manzoor Khanday, Shabir Malik, Bashir Ahmad Dar and Fazal Din.
