SRINAGAR, May 21: Former Minister and MLA Amirakadal, Syed Altaf Bukhari, raised various issues of public importance in almost all the sectors of development of the constituency represented by him in the State Assembly.
Addressing the District Development Board meeting Mr Bukhari, however, agreed with his colleagues that approved district plan outlay of only Rs 102 crore was very insufficient as compared to district plan approved for other districts of the State. The Chief Minister taking cognizance of the genuine concerns expressed by the Members of the Board, assured that approved district plan outlay will be supplemented by the funds under State sector plan to be chalked out separately for the two capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu.
While demanding a separate medical zone to be established in Amirakadal for better supervision of hospitals, Bukhari said the Indian Public Health System (IPHS) guidelines must be followed in letter and spirit. He demanded construction of nine buildings of the hospitals which are presently functioning in rented accommodations. He also called for upgradation of PHC Chanapora to Sub District Hospital.
While demanding separate educational zone for Amirakadal he said drinking water supply be provided to all schools and also shifting of premises of GHS from Natipora Asthan to Khall as also its upgradation to higher secondary level.
Bukhari, while referring to power sector, demanded improvement of 100 existing sub-stations in the constituency. He demanded replacement of Sodium Vapour lamps by LEDs on existing poles on main roads. He also called for maintenance of buffer stock for replacement of damaged transformers during winters.
For operation and maintenance of water supply system, Bukhari demanded at least two divisions for Water Works Department Srinagar so that these could cater to the population of about 16 lakh.
Regarding roads the former works minister demanded a separate corridor that will connect Srinagar railway station to TRC Chowk via Padshahi Bagh Lasjan.
Bukhari sought immediate administrative authorization for the Rdsft Plan for comprehensive Flood Management of river Jhelum and its tributaries.
He demanded immediate disbursement of full monetary relief among the flood sufferers wherever pending. He also raised issues concerning Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Srinagar Development Authority, Youth Services and Sports and the Home Department.
