SRINAGAR, Apr 21: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said that a sustained dialogue between the Government of India and the people of Jammu and Kashmir is imperative to bridge the prevailing trust deficit. He was addressing a workers’ gathering at Humhama, where he also inaugurated the party’s new office.
Bukhari said Apni Party aims to promote a political culture in J&K free from hatred, negativity, and violence. “We want to give the politics of Jammu and Kashmir a new direction to make it beneficial for the people,” he said.
He stressed the need for economic restructuring and better utilisation of local resources. “Jammu and Kashmir has remained economically deficient due to the improper management of resources. If utilised properly, we would not be facing such a deficit,” he said, adding that the goal should be to eliminate poverty and ensure inclusive development.
Highlighting women’s empowerment, Bukhari said it is central to the party’s vision. “Women constitute half the population. Their social, educational, economic, and political empowerment is essential for overall progress,” he said. He also reiterated his demand for the release of detainees and raised concerns over issues faced by youth, including delays in police verification for passports and jobs.
“I appeal to the Home Minister to initiate a dialogue, especially with the youth, to address grievances and bridge the trust deficit,” he added.
Senior party leaders, including Ghulam Hassan Mir, Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Muntazir Mohiudin, Farooq Andrabi, Yawar Dilawar Mir, Dilshad Shaheen and others were present.
