MAMBAI: A three-story residential building collapsed in Bhendi Bazar area near J J hospital in South Mumbai today.
Amid fears that many people are trapped under the rubble, the rescuers have pulled out three persons alive so far.
Confirming this, DCP, Zone I, Manoj Sharma said while three people are rescued, the exact number of people trapped is not known immediately.
“The rescued people were rushed to J J Hospital,” he said.
The disaster management cell of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) received a call at 8.40 am about the collapse.
“We immediately rushed fire brigade personnel to the site to rescue the trapped people. We fear that several people are trapped under the debris,” a senior MCGM official said.
A 45-member team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is carrying out the rescue operation with the help of Fire personnel. (AGENCIES)
