MENDHAR, June 29: A buffalo was killed while three others injured in Balakote area of Poonch sector late last evening.
Reports said that one buffalo of Mohd Iqbal of Suhala hamlet in Balakote was killed and two others sustained serious bullet injuries last evening while another buffalo of Lamberdar Panjni, Mohd Ayub was also seriously injured in firing. The villagers alleged that despite request to the Animal Husbandry authorities and SDM Mendhar, a team led by Veterinary Surgeon Dr Karamat Shah visited the area but they returned without treating the buffaloes. The locals lodged protest and approached DC Poonch and Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Pooch on phone who assured action. Director Animal Husbandry Jammu has also taken cognizance of the matter.
