Budgam Bar regrets delay in construction of new Dist Court

*Seeks intervention of High Court CJ

SRINAGAR, Oct 10: Expressing serious concern over the delay in launching construction work on new District Court Complex at Budgam, the District Bar Association Budgam has sought intervention of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh into the matter.
In a representation to the Chief Justice of the J&K and Ladakh High Court, the office bearers of the District Bar Association Budgam said that in view of the congestion and insufficient infrastructure at the existing District Court at Budgam, the new site measuring 117 Kanals and 19 Marlas of land, situated at Ichgam, Budgam was identified.
All the concerned agencies including R&B, PHE, NHAI, Irrigation & Flood Control and PDD have already conveyed their no objections and moreover, the Tehsil Bar Associations of Chadoora, Charar-i-Sharief, Beerwah and Magam have unanimously passed resolutions in favour of the land transfer for the new District Court complex at this site. The local public representatives have also welcomed this project.
The District Bar expressed its regret and serious concern over the delay being caused and inaction on the part of Deputy Commissioner, Budgam despite several representations/communications forwarded to him. The Principal District and Sessions Judge has also communicated to the Deputy Commissioner with copy to the Lt Governor and Revenue Secretary. Even Revenue Department has conveyed to the District Administration to expedite the process. But the process of transfer of land is being delayed due to best known to the people at the helm of affairs in Revenue department or District Administration, they alleged.
The District Bar Association Budgam has now knocked the doors of Chief Justice of J&K and Ladakh High Court, seeking his intervention into the urgent matter with regard to transfer of 117 Kanals and 19 Marlas of land under survey No. 576 for the construction of new District Court Complex at Budgam.
