JAMMU, May 25: Buddha Purnima was celebrated across the State with religious fervour and gaiety.
The 2557th birth anniversary of Mahatma Buddha, a festival known as Vesak (Buddha Purnima or Buddha Jayanti) was celebrated in Kargil with full religious fervor and zeal. The biggest programme was organized at Dalai Lama Photang, Wakha in which thousands of followers participated. The chief guest on the occasion was the local Head Lama, Lama Geyshes Lharampa Lobzang Gyalson, who while speaking threw light on the life and teachings of Lord Buddha.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) organised a function to celebrate Buddha Purnima. On the occasion, Tulsi Dass Langeh, State president, BSP was the chief guest, who while speaking threw light on the teachings of Lord Buddha.
Buddha Purnima was celebrated by All India Confederation of SC,ST,OBC and other social organizations in collaboration with Lord Buddha Club of India at Buddha Vihar, Kathua. On the occasion, homage to lord Buddha was paid. While speaking, State President of Lord Buddha Club Roshan Choudhary appealed the society to work hard in spreading the message of Buddhism to give the nation a classless society.
