SAMBA, Sept 18: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) J&K Unit under the leadership of Tarsem Lal Khullar held a one day dharna and took out a procession here, today in protest against the atrocities committed on the weaker sections of the society.
The demonstrators protested against atrocities being committed on SC,ST,OBC , minorities, poor, daily wagers, firing by Pakistan in Arnia sector , farmers etc.
Addressing protesters Raja Ram Ji (M.P Rajya Sabha) Coordinator J&K and West Bengal said that after 70 years of independence still the upper class people don’t let someone represent deprived people and talk about them.
Further speaking, he said that the reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Sections was not a charity but a matter of according representation to the people who were traditionally deprived of education, means of livelihood and safety by the Braminical system and their religion and it was because of untiring efforts of Baba Sahib Ambedkar that these sections were given their human rights.
He informed that the provisions of according representation in employment, education and other institutions of Governance was included in the Constitution of India in the aftermath of Poona Pact of 1932 wherein the depressed classes lost their right of ‘separate electorate with double voting power’ and were; instead, given reservations. He, once again reiterated that attack on reservation was depiction of Caste prejudices still prevalent in the society and RSS was vigorously trying to foment such prejudices and communal hatred.
Tarsem Lal Khullar president Bahujan Samaj Party J&K while speaking said that BSP in J&K will fight tooth and nail for the safeguarding the rights of the deprived people in whole country and this dharna is just the first step to let the Centre and State Governments know that all the deprived are still together for the respect of their esteemed leader Mayawati.
Firing by Pakistan in Arnia sector and killing of Indian army and civilian is a serious matter for Governments of Centre and State but they failed to solve this issue. On the other hand the present BJP Government in the Centre and BJP and PDP collation in the State promised to allot five marla plots in safe place to people living near the border but till date nothing has been done in this regard. BSP demands that plots should be allotted as soon as possible.
