BSP expresses concern over statement of VC SMVDU

JAMMU, June 14: Bahujan Samaj Party has expressed serious concern over the statement of Prof Sudhir K Jain Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in a section of of press on June, 12, 2014, wherein he has stated that reservation inculcates lethargic attitude in the students, which leads to incompetence, which is his version and shows Prof Sudhir K Jain’s ante SC, OBC mindset.
BSP president T D Langeh in a statement issued, said that to kind attention of Prof Sudhir K Jain towards the historical background of reservation. These sections of the society (S/C, S/T, OBC) were denied right to education. They were not allowed to have education, property and rest all the basic amenities for centuries together and majority of society are still landless, labourers moving here and there to earn their livelihood and more than 20 crore people are still living in jhuggi-jhounparies in slum areas at the bank of dirty nallahas, rivers and railway lines.
BSP leader further said while drafting the Indian Constitution Bharat Rattan Baba Sahib Dr B R Ambedkar kept the provision of reservation for oppressed and exploited sections, so that the people of these sections of the society could come at par with other sections and could take part in governance of the country. Hence the person should think before speak and must study the Indian history.
