BSNL employees begin 3-day protest, stage dharna for demands

JAMMU, Jan 6: On the call of Joint Forum of BSNL Unions/Association, three-day dharna by the BSNL employees in Jammu and Kashmir began today.
The BSNL employees are protesting against alleged anti-workers policies of the Government and highlighting their demand through the mode of dharna on January 6, 7 and 8 at administrative headquarters in Jammu.
The protesting BSNL employees raised slogans against the Government and in support of their demands. They alleged that the Government was not conceding their genuine demands. They also threatened to launch an indefinite strike from March 17, 2015 if their demands are not settled in a phased manner.
Today, the dharna was organized under the leadership of Com N S Manhas, who also addressed the protesting employees. He highlighted the BSNL employees demands, which include filling up of the posts, compensation for loss on landline for rural and remote area service, procurement of equipment for expansion and better service, drop proposal for merger of BSNL and MTNL, stop formation of subsidiary companies of BSNL, spectrum liberalization and trading.
Others who addressed the dharna, included P K Bali, Anil Sharma, Rameshchander Sharma, R J Kaw, S K Moza, Manjeet Singh, Rai Singh, M K Koul, Sanjay Pandita and other senior leaders of BSNL Employees Union.
They demanded rejection of Deloitee Consultant recommendations, pension revision of  BSNL pensioners, fresh recruitment of staff and implementation of Cabinet decision on 30 percent superannuation benefit to BSNL direct recruited employees.
