BSF seizes 2 kg heroin worth Rs 10 cr from Punjab border

JALANDHAR, Dec 30: The Border Security Force seized two kg of contraband, suspected to be heroin, from near the  Border Out Post (BoP) Pachharian in Ferozepur sector on Saturday.

According to a statement issued from BSF’s Punjab Frontier HQ here, a special search operation was carried out by BSF troops in the area of BoP Pachharian between the border security fence and the International Border.

During search, the BSF troops recovered a coupling assembly, which was kept hidden under a heap of paddy straw. While checking the coupling assembly, 2 kg contraband, suspected to be heroin, was found filled in two cavities made in the coupling assembly. Value of the contraband recovered is said to be Rs 10 crore in the international market.

During the current calendar year, BSF has seized 278.144 kg heroin, including the seizure made on Saturday, valueing more than Rs 1390 crore in the international market. (UNI)
