JAMMU, Aug 13:  World Organ Donation Day was organized by Border Security Force (BSF)  at  Frontier Headquarters BSF, Paloura here today.
The event was inaugurated by DK Upadhyaya, Inspector General, Frontier  HQ BSF Jammu. He spoke on the importance  of  Organ Donation and  emphasized  that it is the most noble cause  and told  that many  precious  lives  can be saved  by donating  body organs.
The IB BSF further revealed that this day  is celebrated with enthusiasm by Government  organizations  and other related professions all over India on August 13 every year. This  helps  to motivate  normal  human  beings to  donate  their organs  as well as  to understand  the value  of organ donation  in the life of an individual.
Ram Avtar, DIG/PSO  also  spoken  on the  occasion. This event was held under his guidance and supervision.
Dr KS Kumar, Commandant (Medical)  Frontier  HQ BSF Jammu  earlier in his  welcome address  told  that BSF not  only guards  the borders of India  but  also  performs social  responsibilities  towards  humanity. He disclosed that in India, around 6000 people  die  every day,  waiting  for  organ transplant. Every  17 minutes  someone dies  waiting  for transplants.
” It is a gift  of life.  Almost  all organs  can be donated  by every one  and a  single  donor  can save  upto 50 lives. Instead of  organ  to the heaven, let us  create  heaven  on the earth and let’s  us  live  after death,”  he maintained.
Dr Atul Gupta gave  a motivational lecture regarding organ donation and  cleared  many   myths  and doubts of gathered force men due  to which  many  people  do not  come  forward and  donate  their  organs.
D K Upadhyaya,  filled  up the form  to donate his body organs. Besides, Ram Awtar, DIG/PSO,  Sanjay Singh Gehlot, DIG (Prov), Dr K S Kumar, Comdt (Med). About  50 BSF personnel  were  also  motivated  and who filled  up  the forms to donate  their  body organs. About 120  BSF personnel  consisting  of Officers, SOs and ORs  attended  this function.
