JAMMU, July 4: A medical camp regarding awareness about breast cancer and oral hygiene was organized at Frontier Headquarters, BSF Paloura here today.
The camp was organized under the direction of DK Upadhyaya, Inspector General, Frontier HQ BSF Jammu.
Shikha Upadhyaya, president BWWA Frontier HQ BSF Jammu was received by Kamlesh Ram, BWWA vice president Jammu. Camp was inaugurated by president BWWA Frontier HQ BSF Jammu.
Dr K S Kumar, Commandant (Medical) FTR HQ BSF Jammu organized the Camp. President BWWA emphasized that measures can be taken for early detection of breast cancer and treatment can be started early to avoid morbidity and mortality.
Dr Geetu Mahajan, renown Gynaecologist of Jammu briefed BSF personnel and ladies of BSF about carcinoma breast. She also educated them about symptoms and risk factors. She told that breast cancer is the second most common cancer amongst the women.
Dr Akash Bhat, Dental Surgeon also imparted health education about oral hygiene. He told that oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth and teeth clean to prevent dental problems, most commonly dental cavities, gingivitis, peridontal diseases and bad breath. He also told that patient needs to be aware of the importance of brushing and flossing their teeth daily.
The whole team worked hard under the guidance of Ram Awtar, DIG (PSO) and Kamlesh Ram Awtar, vice president BWWA in making the camp a great success. About 150 ladies and BSF personnel attended the Medical Camp.
Dr Atul Gupta, Dr Mandeep Singh, Dr Pallavi Sharma and Dr Suman Sharma worked hard under the supervision of Dr K S Kumar, Commandant (Medical) in making the camp a success.
