BSF officer dies mysteriously

KATHUA, Feb 20: In mysterious circumstances, an Assistant Commandant of the Border Security Force (BSF) died today of a gun shot along the International Border in Hiranagar sector.
“Assistant Commandant Vijay Bhadur Yadav (50), son of Ram Parshad, resident of District Jonepur, Uttar Pradesh, was found dead in a pool of blood in his room at Border Out Post, Karole Krishna in Hiranagar sector, at about 8:45 AM today when sound of a gun shot was heard in his room,” police sources said quoting BSF officials.
“The body of the deceased was shifted to Sub District Hospital, Hiranagar and after postmortem handed over to BSF authorities,” sources said, adding, inquest proceeding under 174 CrPC was started in this connection at police station Hiranagar.
Sources further said the deceased BSF officer was of 19 Battalion and he had applied for home leave which were to begin from Feb 21. However, it is not clear whether his leave was sanctioned or not.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed BSF reports said that the officer died due to accidental gun shot while he was cleaning his service rifle (AK 47).
