JAMMU: Alert troops of BSF foiled an infiltration bid, while one terrorist was reportedly killed on international border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district.
”BSF troops during in the intervening night noticed a movement of around six-member group of terrorists trying to infiltrate into the Indian territory in Hiranagar Sector of Kathua,” official sources here today said.
They said that BSF men fired at them, adding, ”one terrorist was believed to be ‘killed’ in the firing.”
”On the night intervening, own troops foiled a force infiltration bid under cover of cross border firings from Pakistan side in Hiranagar Sector, District Kathua, Jammu,” a BSF official here said.
He said that last night, movement of a group of terrorists was noticed in Pakistan side of International Boundary, adding, ”their movement was kept under watch by alert BSF troops and at about 2345 hours, the group of heavily armed terrorists were again spotted by alert BSF troops close to International Boundary in Pakistan sides where they reached taking advantage of undulating ground and thick wild growth”.
He further added that terrorists took refuge in a depression having dense wild growth and added that all nearby BSF duty and Army as well as Police deployed in depth were also alerted.
During midnight, militants fired two RPG shells aiming BSF night patrol vehicle in the area followed by heavy volume of fire from automatic weapons towards patrolling party and BSF duty points.
”Alert BSF troops on duty points without caring their personal safety and security boldly organized coordinated effective fire but also over them not only to suppress their fire but also created havoc among terrorists which not only pinned them down but forced to retreat, alert BSF troops foiled the attempted Forced Infiltration Bid of heavily armed terrorists from Pakistan by giving them a befitting reply,” he added and said that during illumination of Para bomb fire, it was clearly seen by BSF troops that four terrorists were fleeing and also dragging one of their injured or killed person.
