JAMMU, Feb 1: Over 40 unemployed youth were briefly detained by the police today after they staged a protest demonstration and blocked main Tawi bridge, demanding recruitment in Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Hundreds of BSF and CISF aspirants assembled this morning at Exhibition Ground here and staged a vociferous protest against in support of their demand. Demanding their jobs letters, the protesting youth said, “When the notification for the recruitment of 1,356 constables in BSF and CISF was issued in 2018, lakhs of aspirants from J&K had applied for the posts. Amid this, the demand for posts was raised and assurance for the same had been made by MoS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh. However, in February 2021, the final list of the selected candidates was rolled out for only 1,356 candidates instead of the assured added 2,000 posts.”
They said since then the remaining aspirants, who had cleared the final round of recruitment, are struggling for their right for job. “We met every concerned authority and called on senior BJP leaders but only got fake assurances. We voted for BJP during BDC elections but got nothing in return,” the protesting youth said while raising anti-BJP slogans.
“We have already crossed the age limit to stand a chance for recruitment in future,” said one of the protesters while adding that they had cleared all the rounds for recruitment in BSF and CISF but still did not get job as MoS in PMO did not fulfill his promise of enhancing the vacancies which he had made during elections. The protesting youth said that they will carry on the agitation till their demand is not fulfilled.
Later, the protesting youth moved towards Dogra Chowk and tried to block the main Tawi bridge at Mandir-Masjid point but the alert police thwarted their attempt and detained over 40 protesting youth to whom they released later.
