SRINAGAR, July 4: Police arrested five peddlers from two separate places and recovered over two thousands bottles of prescription drugs and 700 grams of Brown Sugar from their instance in city here.
A police spokesman said that acting on specific information, a police party during naka checking at Bemina Chowk apprehended a suspect Mushtaq Ahmad Dar of Pattan. “On his search, police recovered 39 bottles of Codeine Phosphate,” the spokesman said, adding that his arrest led to the arrest of two more peddlers identified as Ishtaq Ahmad Kawaja of Pamposh Colony Noorbagh and Zahoor Ahmad Hajam of New Colony Sopore.
During investigation, police recovered 2000 more bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the house of one of the accused Ishtaq Kawaja. A case under FIR number 176/15 under Section 8/22, 29 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, police apprehended two persons namely Adil Aziz Wagay resident of Noorbagh Baramulla and Sajad Ahmad Beigh resident of Narbal Check, Kawoosa with about 700 grams of Brown Sugar.
“Both the accused have been taken into custody and case under FIR number 77/2015 under Section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered. Further investigation in this regard is going on,” the police spokesman added.
