Bronze bust of martyr Nyima Tenzin unveiled on martyrdom day

LEH, Aug 30: To mark the day of martyrdom of late company leader Nyima Tenzin of the 7 Vikas Regiment of the Indian Army, a symbolic ceremony was organized by Ladakh Buddhist Association and a bronze bust statue of martyr Nyima was unveiled by the dignitaries, led by HE Bakula Rangdol Nyima Rinpoche at Jive-Tsal, here today.
Company leader late Nyima Tenzin got martyred last year at the Gurung Peak in the Kailash Range performing his duty near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Late Nyima Tenzin was presented guard of honour (Shok Shastra) by 7 Vikas Regiment, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony from the dignitaries present during the occasion.
Paying tribute to the martyr, CEC Tashi Gyalson praised the family members and the community for producing such heroes. He stated that Ladakhis are having sound sleep only because of the army personnel guarding us at the borders and we feel proud to have heroes like late Nyima within our community.
He assured all possible support and assistance from the Hill Council to the family members of the late Nyima Tenzin.
President LBA, Thupstan Chhewang, CRO Leh, Tsetan Wangchuk and GOC 14 Corps Leh Sub-Area, Major General Sumit Malhotra also addressed the gathering and paid rich tributes to the martyr on his 1st death anniversary.
Heads of religious organisations Leh, District Magistrate Leh, Councillor Phyang, Veteran leaders of Leh, GOC 14 Corps Leh Sub Area, DIG ITBP, SSP Leh, CRO Ladakh, Army officials from 7 Vikas Regiment, family members of the martyr and locals from the Tibetan settlement were present during the ceremony.
