LEH, May 6: Commemorating the BRO Day today, 753 BRTF Project Himank organized a free Medical and Dental Camp at Chemray in which a huge number of people from Sakti, Chemray and other nearby villages participated.
The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Dorjey Motup inaugurated the camp in presence of EC Health, Gyal P Wangyal, Chief Engineer Himank Nitin Sharma, SDM Kharu Tsering Motup, Chhakzot Chemray Gonpa, Doctors, officers and jawans of BRO.
Dorjey Motup termed the medical camp as a goodwill gesture from BRO towards the locals saying that it would further strengthen the bond between BRO and local people which is in the best interest of the nation.
CEC assured that LAHDC would extend every possible support and cooperation to BRO in their projects.
EC Health Gyal P Wangyal urged the need for having close coordination between the BRO and LAHDC so that all future projects would become more productive and beneficial for the development of this region.
Mentioning the up-gradation of Kharu-Tangtse road which is currently in active progress, Gyal requested the BRO for early black topping of this road especially from Kharu to Sakti keeping in mind inconveniences being faced by the people. To make the PM’s national movement ” Bharat Swachh Abhiyan” a meaningful, EC Health also requested BRO to immediately create toilet facilities for the labourers stationed at the transit camp at Sakti.
The issue of defecating and polluting the water bodies by the BRO labourers in and around Sakti in absence of toilets was also raised on the occasion by the Medical Officer Sakti, Dr. Wasim and urged BRO to immediately take necessary precautionary measures saying that it may lead to a serious health consequences if timely action is not taken.
The Chief Engineer BRO Nitin Sharma gave a resume of BRO’s 58 years of service to the nation mainly in road construction saying that BRO was quite successful in achieving its objectives.
Lauding LAHDC’s all-time constructive approaches of giving a congenial working environment in Ladakh, Nitin said that this has largely helped in executing result oriented projects in this region. He assured for immediate construction of sufficient numbers of toilets for the BRO labourers at Sakti transit camp.
