BHADERWAH, Mar 4: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) completed snow clearance operation on Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli Road and expected to restore traffic within a day or two.
A BRO spokesman said that Bhaderwah area experienced heavy snowfall recently and the spell in the upper regions in the forest area of Seoj was very heavy, as the same is located in the high altitude region.
He said the road from Basohli via Bani is an important road axis connecting the Bhaderwah Sub Division of district Doda with Kathua district through Basohli. It has vital link with Dalhousie and Chamba areas of Himachal and Punjab states. This road experienced heavy snowfall in the Chhatergala Pass and road connectivity remained disrupted for more than two months.  This road is being constructed and maintained by the 114 RCC of Project Beacon under the Border Roads Organisation.
The spokesman said that a dedicated team comprising of Satpudke TD, EE (Civ), and I/Charges Vivek, JE (Civ), Capt Naveen Chahar, Sudhansu Mishra, JE (Civ),   Dhiraj, JE (Civ), Mandal JE with trained BRO operators and labourers, tirelessly worked round the clock and opened the road for the traffic within the least possible time under the over all guidance of Brig Vishal Aggrawal, Chief Engineer Project Beacon and Col Neeraj Karki, Comamnder, 35 Border Roads Task Force, Doda.
Inspite all hurdles, heavy snowfall, sub zero temperature and adverse climatic conditions adequate measures have been taken to maintain the connectivity of the road from Bani to Bhaderwah for the safe convenience of the general public. The road was said to be still slippery in Chhatergala area. During the task, the three residents who were stuck up in the Chhatergala Pass near Sarthal were rescued by the BRO men.
Amid the snow clearance operation, the regular work on the bridges and permanent road structures was in progress. The traffic is likely to be restored for normal traffic within a couple of days, the BRO spokesman said.
