JAMMU, Sept 7: Brigadier Harcharan Singh today took over as Director Sainik Welfare Department (DSWD) from his predecessor, Brigadier R S Langeh.
Brigadier Harcharan Singh is the third generation Army soldier who was commissioned in Infantry (Nadras regiment) in 1981.
He served in various areas including Saichen and was awarded VSM for his outstanding execution of duties during his service. During his military career spanning over three decades he held various appointments including AHQ and Indian Military Acedamy.
His father Capt Pritam Singh retired from Army in 1979 and his father-in-law, Capt Mohan Singh, Vir Chakra is a veteran and war casuality of 1971 war.
