SAMBA, May 19: The workers of Bharat Box Factory held protest against the non payment of their wages for the last 14 months by the factory management.
The protestors assembled at Samba Chowk and while raising slogans against the factory management said that their fate is hanging in balance as the management totally cheated them after locking the factory.
They demanded that their wages of last 14 months be paid to them immediately as the workers are at the verge of starvation.
They also blamed the Government of maintaining a stoic silence on the issue as it failed to take timely action in the matter. They alleged violation of labour laws in BBF.
“Government established industries in Samba sector with the sole purpose of boosting economy of the people and providing employment to the youth but the same has been broken after the industrialists close their units by taking the benefit of subsidy”, they said.
The Labour Department has failed to ensure justice to the workers of Bharat Box Factory and corruption was rampant in the Labour Department, they alleged.
They urged the Government to issue directives to the management of BBF Industries to pay the pending wages of workers at the earliest as their families are at the verge of starvation.
