JAMMU, May 21: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 89 cattle and arresting 13 smugglers.
As per police sources, patrolling parties headed by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket, Incharge Police Post Sidhra Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq and SI Ankuj Kumar stopped persons along with 30 bovines in Jagti area.
When asked for valid permission from authorities concerned, the persons failed to produce the same and by taking benefit of dark ran away.
All 30 bovines were rescued and a case under FIR Number 193/2020 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Nagrota.
Meanwhile, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by SHO Inspector Rajesh Khajuria and PSI Rajat Magotra under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma intercepted one truck at Suketar Naka bearing registration number PB02CC-0054.
During checking, police team rescued 19 bovines from the truck and arrested the driver who has been identified as Shamsher Singh, son of Puran Singh of Rasoolpur Kala, Amritsar.
A case under FIR Number 93/2020 has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
However, a team from Manwal Police Post led by SI Vikram Singh under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma rescued 35 bovine animals and arrested 10 smugglers, who were identified as Babar, Mohammad Junaid, Manzoor Ahmed, Mohammad Waseem, Mohammad Akram, Najam Din, Mohammad Sadiq, Parvez Ahmed, Tariq and Mohammad Bashir.
Cases under FIR Numbers 92/2020 and 94/2020 have been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation started.
In another similar incident, a team from Kanachack Police Station headed by ASI Rounak Singh under the supervision of SHO Kanachack Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar, SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul and SP Rural Suram Singh rescued one bovine animal from auto load carrier. The smugglers managed to escape from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
A case under FIR Number 72/20 under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Kanachack and investigation initiated.
A team from Satwari Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a Tata Mobile. During checking, police team rescued 4 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Mohammad Rafiq of Babliana and Mohammad Mansa of Rohi Morh.
A case under FIR Number 107/2020 has been registered at Satwari Police Station and investigation started.
