Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 44 cattle rescued, 5 arrested

JAMMU, Oct 4: Akhnoor, Nagrota and Khour Police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 44 cattle and arresting five smugglers.
As per police sources, teams from Police Stations Akhnoor, Nagrota and Khour laid check points in their respective jurisdictions and intercepted four vehicles bearing registration numbers JK12A-2805, JK02M-5297, JK20A-1006 and JK02CJ-8771.
During checking, police teams rescued 44 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested five persons, who were identified as Mohammad Issaq, son of Mohammad Yacoob of Bhinchh Tehsil Haveli District Poonch, Mohd Safeer, son of Sabir Hussain and Mohammad Shafiq, son of Mohammad Azam, both residents of Nalli Manjakote District Rajouri, Muzamal Maqsood, son of Mohammad Maqsood of District Bandipora and Maskeen Ali, son of Lal Hussain of Hiranagar District Kathua.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Stations Akhnoor, Nagrota and Khour and investigation started.
Police teams led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Hilal Azhar, SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket and SHO Khour Inspector Balwinder Singh made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial, SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh and SP Rural Jammu Sanjay Sharma.
