JAMMU, Mar 13: Chanderkote Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 33 cattle and arrested two smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Chanderkote Police Station laid a naka and intercepted two trucks bearing registration number NL01AE-2877 and JK18B-7070.
During checking, police team rescued 33 bovine animals from the trucks and arrested the drivers, who were identified as Ricky Baro, son of Malik Baro of District Guwahati Assam and Muzaffer Amin, son of Mohammad Amin of Lasso Tehsil Dhamal District Kulgam.
Meanwhile, in order to dodge the police, the smugglers had filled sand in the trucks upto one fourth of their height and thereafter loaded the animals so that their movement couldn’t be noticed. After doing this, the trucks were fully covered to give them a normal look. But the vigilant cops did not let them succeed in their nefarious designs.
Cases under FIR Numbers 13/2020 and 14/2020 under sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Chanderkote Inspector Nazir Ahmed made the arrest under the supervision of Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
