JAMMU, Apr 30: Miran Sahib and Arnia police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 20 cattle and nabbing two persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Miran Sahib police station laid a naka and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AL-4306 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicles.
During checking, police rescued 20 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the drivers and his associate.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Rafiq, son of Haji Babu of Marallian and Lal Din, son of Fayaz Ahmed of Dansal.
A case under FIR Number 73/16 has been registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Arnia police station laid a naka near Kool and intercepted a person carrying bovine animals.
During questioning, the person failed to give satisfactory reply and police arrested him. Three bovine animals were rescued from his possession.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Arnia police station and investigation started.
Police teams led by SHO Miran Sahib SI Hilal Azhar and SHO Arnia Inspector Satish Kumar made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
Meanwhile, in its continuous drive against bovine smuggling, Police Party headed by Inspector Suraj Pathania, SHO Ghagwal foiled a bovine smuggling bid by intercepting a truck bearing registration Number HR55B/ 3481, coming from Kathua side and carrying 10 bovine animals which were being illegally transported.
But on seeing the Police Naka laid at Ghagwal, the driver of the vehicle fled away under the cover of darkness, leaving the vehicle on spot much before the Police Naka. Accordingly, the bovine animals were rescued, vehicle seized and Case FIR No. 41/2016 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation carried on. Efforts are being made to on to nab the absconding accused driver.
