Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 19 cattle rescued, 2 arrested

RAMBAN, Mar 9: Dhamkund and Chanderkote police foiled bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 19 cattle and arresting two persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Dhamkund police station and District Special Branch sleuths laid a special naka at Varnal in Subhar area and asked a person namely Latief, son of Abdullah of Sumbhar carrying flock of bovines to stop.
On seeing police team, the person escaped from the spot leaving behind 8 bovine animals, which he was trying to smuggle to Valley from Gool on foot.
A case under FIR Number 6/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Dhamkund and manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
Meanwhile, a team from Chanderkot police station laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AD-1757 and signaled to stop.
During checking, police team rescued 11 bovine animals and arrested driver and his associate.
The accused have been identified as Balwant Singh, son of Santokh Singh of Sanasar and Mohammad Rafiq, son of Mohammad Yousaf of Jakheni, District Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 12/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Chanderkot and investigation started.
Police team headed by SHO Chanderkot Inspector Daljeet Singh made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
